Our Story

In 2018 my family was struck by tragedy. At only six months old my sister’s son passed away. My nephew, Theo, was born with congenital heart disease and died of complications following three open heart surgeries. He spent his entire six months of life in the hospital. As I watched my sister lose her baby, I felt completely helpless and wished I could have brought her more comfort — no family should have to endure what we went through, but in reality, so many do.

The loss of Theo hit a whole different kind of hard when I became a Mom in 2021. The hospital doors I was wheeled out of with my newborn were the same doors my sister walked out of without a baby to take home. In that moment I knew I had to do more.

That’s why I’m choosing to honor my nephew, help other heart kiddos, and set an example for my daughter that the most important thing you can do in life is to help others and give back. In order to do that, you also have to prioritize your peace and take care of yourself. That’s where the idea for Cozy-hearted began.

Cozy-hearted was founded by me, Katherine Jansen, in 2023. It is a brand built on serving others and our planet. Our mission is to infuse comfort, mindfulness, and joy into daily life — through cozy blankets for the whole family and philanthropic giving.

No matter what season of life you’re in, we all want to feel comforted and that is my hope for you.

Welcome to the Cozy-hearted family.

Living Mindfully

Thinking is exhausting, being is freeing.

Mindfulness. Being present. Living in the moment.

Learning to cope with and heal from painful experiences was a struggle. That’s when I discovered the power of mindfulness and how important it is to savor and live in the present moment. Through the practice of meditation I’ve learned how to live mindfully. This practice isn’t perfect but it’s truly what gets me through the tough parts of life and brings so much more joy to the beautiful parts.

Our minds wander and we’re constantly running through the never-ending to-do list. Yet, when we return to the practice of being mindful in the moment, focusing on our breath, and remembering that our thoughts do not define us, we’re instantly able to calm our nervous system and move forward with a more joyful heart. I want to instill this way of life into my own children and be able to lead by example. I’m here to remind you to take a pause, take a deep breath, and be present with yourself and the ones you love. Be grateful because everything can change in an instant. I have been inspired to do better, be kind + warm hearted and empower others to do the same.

That’s what I hope you’ll find here — cozy blankets that warm your body and mindful practices that enrich your soul.

It feels good to be cozy. It feels good to be mindful. It feels good to give back. This is cozy-hearted.

xo,
Katherine
